Remembering John Wayne

John Wayne was more than just an actor- he represented the ideals of Americans as well as the old west. Although John Wayne beat lung cancer in 1964 he eventually died in 1979 of stomach cancer. He is among just a few who received both the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal.

In this address, Mr. Wayne sincerely thanks the men who served in Vietnam and begins by saying, "We're sorry that about 40,000 of your comrades can't be here..." Very moving. He was such a class act.
