Goodbye to Aunt Linda
November 5, 2010

She was raised a country girl
Full of dreams and stories to tell
She liked to play a prank or two
Followed by a laugh we knew so well

She opened her Christmas presents early
Made rewrapping them an art
And everyone who knew her
Has a place for her in their heart

She could talk and talk for hours
Never ran out of things to say
When I was younger she would write me
Long, long letters almost every day

She loved her soap operas, pets and mountains
And loved her family very much too
Later her smile was robbed by arthritis and depression
Then when her husband died, the pain in her heart like a cancer grew.

She spent her later years alone a lot
Her isolation and illness pushed us away even more
But we should remember the woman underneath all that
She was someone beautiful to the core .

We didn't get to say goodbye
Our hearts are filled with sadness as we now have to
Linda if you can hear us now
Please know we really love and will always miss you.
